- Following from the previous related question, [Migrate posts in?](https://photography.codidact.com/q/74962), and from the [site proposal](https://meta.codidact.com/q/74831), we have decided to be selective about which questions, or at categories of questions, to import from Photo-SE.
- So, let's start figuring out what to import. I suggest let's figure out types of posts (by subject, tag, etc?). I anticipate that there are several "singleton", important posts that might not fit a category. In those cases, let's just identify them as the singletons, and perhaps start to list them.
- I'm not sure the Q&A format will work well to list the several tens or hundreds of posts, but's let's start here and see how it goes.

- In retrospect, I'm glad questions weren't migrated in from Photo-SE. Instead, perhaps lists in the answers below could be examples of the types of questions we might want to consider writing for FAQs. Just a suggestion.

Related to the similar question, [Migrate posts in?](https://photography.codidact.com/q/74962), how do we discuss and decide on **which specific** posts to migrate in from Photo-SE? [My suggestion during site proposal](https://meta.codidact.com/a/74831/74833) was thus:>> Which posts do we want to import?>>I completely agree with mostly clean slate, with hand-selected posts. I'm thinking of two basic types of posts to import:>>* The very few that are tedious to recompile the information, such as What do all those cryptic number and letter codes in a lens name mean?, maybe Can I use lens brand X on interchangeable lens camera brand Y?, and a few others.>>* More importantly, examples of the types of questions we'd like to attract here. Starting with several posts from the history tag such as What makes this Eggleston picture great?, What historic reasons are there for common aspect ratios?, What was the “New York School” of photography?, Why is “The Steerage” hailed “one of the greatest photographs of all time”?, etc.>>I think it's generally important to write our own basics ("what is focal length?", etc.), rather than rely too heavily on copypasta.So we have gone live (beta?) with no import as of yet.
